Training Courses PDF Print E-mail

jpgSince summer 2007, several training courses for civil servants employed in family offices, staff of the Women’s Association, volunteers and teachers were offered by the international child aid organisation Save the Children with our support.

The participants received basic information about HIV and AIDS to reduce prejudice and fear of the disease. They discussed pragmatic approaches to prevent further spread of the disease, reduce discrimination and otherwise support the affected population.

In a second phase, the training courses focused on the special situation of children affected by HIV/AIDS and worked out plans for how these children could best be supported, from both the material and from the psychological viewpoint. In addition, the participants received advice on how to apply and spread their new knowledge in their surroundings.

jpgThe training sessions were received positively by the participants. Save the Children staff members were also satisfied with the overall results. We hope that funding such training courses will have a positive effect on the situation of both the children we support and their peers.

Background regarding the usage of donations: We are focusing on financing the living expenses and tuition fees of children who lost their parents to AIDS. To this end, we are grateful for long-term monthly donations in form of standing orders or direct debit. It would be terrible to raise a child’s hope and then not be able to continue supporting him or her. A part of the individual donations that we receive goes towards projects in the children’s environment, including trainings for teachers and social workers to deal with HIV-infected people, renovation works in schools and the building of Child Centers.
